Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement that they are mourning for the death of Pope Francis, in addition to celebrating “his remarkable life and legacy: to promote peace, economic inclusion and social justice; and the fight against climate change, particularly their threat to the lives and living of the poorest citizens of the world.”

“I had the blessing of having found me with his holiness,” said the statement, “and Hillary and I were honest when he participated in the annual meeting of the Global Initiative of Clinton 2023, where he talked about the hospital of his children helping young people injured in Ukraine and invited the CGI community to participate and help, what they have.”
“When it took the name of San Francisco, he made it clear that he would strive to embrace the entire world, including those of other religions, those to whom the Church had not always welcomed, and anyone whose daily struggles reflected the lasting truth of our common humanity,” said the Clinton. “According to his own example, he taught that the personal search of each human being, even that of a Pope, for an intentional life was significant and important, and that power and politics must always leave space for compassion and coexistence.”
